Meet Our Staff

Jeremy Jessen

Jeremy Jessen
Pastor

My name is Jeremy Jessen. My wife, Jennifer and I were married June 7, 2003 and we are the proud parents of Isabel and Grant. I was raised in a Christian home, where I learned about the gospel and trusted Christ at the age of eight. Following my conversion I began studying the Bible and a passion to understand the Bible was ignited and has burned brighter as I have grown. My greatest passion and desire in life is to preach the Bible so that people might know Christ and experience the life-transforming power of the gospel to the glory of God. In regards to less-glorious interests, I enjoy golf, coffee, books, coffee, and the St. Louis Cardinals. Go Yadi. Go.

Ben Leonard

Benjamin Leonard
Associate Pastor of Education and Biblical Counseling

My name is Benjamin Leonard. I am married to my wonderful wife Valerie and we have two boys, Abraham and Jeremiah. I accepted the gospel about 20 years ago and God has done a wonderful work in my life since. My desire to know the Lord has grown into a desire to share the good news with others. I am particularly passionate about sharing the life-changing power of the gospel found in scripture. My passion has been emboldened by my time at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and my prayer is that it continues to grow as I share it with others at Heartland Baptist Church.

Justin Perry

Justin Perry
Youth Pastor

My name is Justin Perry and I am the Youth Pastor here at Heartland. I recently received my B.A. in Bible from Hannibal La-Grange College and I am currently working on my Masters of Divinity in Christian Ministry from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. I grew up in Sullivan, MO where I came from an awesome Christian home where my dad, who is a pastor, and mom, who is a High School choir director, instilled in me the importances of Jesus Christ as #1 and family #2 and everything else #3. I am 23 years old and I have a younger, yet taller, brother who is following God in music ministry. I have been known to pop my collar and wear white sunglasses on occasion, but I also love all things to do with hunting and the outdoors (try to figure that one out). I haven't met a sport I didn't like. I know what your thinking how 'bout curling? You give me a 15 lbs. rock with a handle, a big sheet of ice, and some dudes with brooms and I will give it a whirl! My all-time favorite sport is golf, and yes my favorite athlete is Tiger Woods. If I am not working or hunting, then I am probably playing Golf. My true passion is my ministry and I look forward to how God is going to use me in the days to comes. There is so much more I could say, but if you want the full story come find me...I will be the one in white sunglasses!
